Comparison between Rod Mill and Ball Mill

Rod mill is a type of grinding mill whose grinding media is steel bar, while ball mill is steel ball.

1.    Rod mill are usually applied to grinding the w-sn ore and rare metal in the reselection or magneticore-dressing plant in order to avoid the damage caused by the over crushing.
2.    In the two stage grinding process, if it requires grinding the ore from 20-6mm to 1-3mm in the first stage, rod mill is the best choice, for it has large production capability and high efficiency. The reason is that, when the grinding rod and the grinding ball are in the same weight, the superficial area of grinding rod is much smaller than the grinding ball, the production capability and high efficiency of rod mill will lower than ball mill in the secondary grinding stage.
3.    Sometimes, rod mill can be used for fine crushing instead of the short head cone crusher. If the ore is not too hard, crushing the ore from 19-25mm to 6-10 mesh, rod mill is better than short head cone crusher. for the hard ore stone, short head cone crusher is better.
